Best Seafood Restaurants: Dive Into Delaware’s Freshest Catch

No trip to the Delaware coast is complete without indulging in some fresh seafood. With the Atlantic right at your feet, it’s no wonder that Delaware’s beach towns offer some of the finest seafood dishes around. From upscale dining experiences to cozy local joints, here are a few must-try seafood spots.

Bluecoast Seafood Grill (Bethany Beach)

For a blend of coastal elegance and great seafood, visit Bluecoast Seafood Grill in Bethany Beach This restaurant is famous for its views of the salt pond and its fresh seafood. It is a favorite of locals and visitors. Their seared dayboat scallops are a fan favorite, perfectly tender with just the right amount of crisp. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try their spice-crusted tuna. It’s a must-try. It has a perfectly seared, flavorful crust. It gives way to tender, sushi-grade tuna. Each bite bursts with a fresh, coastal flavor. Call for a reservation to enjoy the food at Bluecoast Seafood. Or, try their Rehoboth location.

Henlopen City Oyster House (Rehoboth Beach)

For oyster lovers, Henlopen City Oyster House in Rehoboth Beach is a must-visit. This spot is all about fresh oysters, whether you like them raw, fried, or baked. Their daily oyster selection comes from the East and West Coasts. So, you can do a taste-test comparison. Add in a chilled glass of white wine, and you’ve got yourself a perfect seaside lunch. Oh, and their lobster mac and chees are legendary—loaded with lobster meat! Arrive early since Henlopen City Oyster House does not take reservations.

Must-Try Boardwalk Snacks: Classic Bites That Never Disappoint

What’s a trip to the beach without indulging in some classic boardwalk snacks? Whether you’re strolling down the Rehoboth boardwalk or hanging out in Bethany, there are some iconic treats you simply can’t miss.

Thrasher’s French Fries

Let’s be real: no boardwalk experience is complete without a bucket of Thrasher’s fries. Since 1929, these vinegar-soaked, perfectly golden fries have been an absolute staple of Rehoboth Beach. The secret? They’re cooked in peanut oil and never served with ketchup (it’s a crime here!). Grab a bucket, douse them in malt vinegar, and prepare for a taste of Delaware beach nostalgia.

Kohr Bros. Frozen Custard

After all that salt and vinegar, you’ll need something sweet, and Kohr Bros. Frozen Custard is just the treat. This creamy, soft, swirl of custard has been cooling off beachgoers since 1919. Whether you go for classic vanilla or a twist of chocolate and orange, this is a refreshing way to beat the heat.

Fisher’s Popcorn

Walking along the boardwalk? You’ll probably smell the buttery, caramel goodness of Fisher’s Popcorn before you see it. Freshly made and served warm, this sweet treat is the perfect snack to take home. If you can resist eating it all on the way. Since 1937, Fisher’s has been popping up smiles with its caramel popcorn and Old Bay-seasoned popcorn

Vegan and Vegetarian Eats: Plant-Based Perfection by the Shore

The Delaware beach towns may be known for seafood, but plant-based eaters won’t be left out. From tropical vibes to fresh, healthy eats, here are some spots where you can find delicious vegan and vegetarian options.

Nalu Hawaiian Surf Bar & Grille (Dewey Beach)

Aloha! If you’re in Dewey Beach and craving some island flavor, Nalu Hawaiian Surf Bar & Grille has you covered. Their vegan options are fantastic, with a standout being their Tofu Poke Bowl. It’s loaded with fresh veggies, seaweed salad, and soy-marinated tofu, giving you all the flavors of the islands in a healthy, plant-based dish.

Nectar (Lewes)

Over in Lewes, you’ll find Nectar, a cozy cafe that serves up a full menu of vegan and vegetarian options. Their avocado toast is a fan favorite. But, if you want something heartier, try their Southwest Grain Bowl. This bowl is a flavor explosion. It has black beans, avocado, and spicy chipotle mayo. It’ll satisfy you without the seafood.

Craft Breweries and Distilleries: Raise a Glass to Local Brews

No foodie guide would be complete without a shoutout to the local brews and spirits scene. Delaware’s beach towns have a thriving craft beer culture, and a couple of spots should be on your radar.

Dogfish Head Brewery (Rehoboth Beach)

Dogfish Head Brewery is a must-visit in Rehoboth Beach. It has a national reputation for pushing brewing’s limits. Dogfish Head is known for its off-centered ales and creative flavors. It offers unique brews you can’t find anywhere else. Hop enthusiasts must try the flagship 60-Minute IPA. After a sunny beach day, their SeaQuench Ale—a tart, refreshing sour—is perfect.

Even if you’re not a beer drinker like myself, Dogfish Head Distilling Co., also at the same location, has you covered. They craft small-batch spirits like gin, vodka, and whiskey. Each has a unique Dogfish twist. Try a cocktail at their Tasting Room. It features house-made spirits in fresh, beach-inspired drinks. They bring something special to the Delaware coast.

Beach Time Distilling (Lewes)

Another cocktail location, Beach Time Distilling in Lewes has got you covered. This craft distillery creates small-batch, handcrafted spirits perfect for sipping or mixing. Their Beach Plum Rum is a local favorite, with a sweet, fruity twist that’s perfect for a summer cocktail. Whether you’re a rum enthusiast or a gin lover, you’ll find something unique to enjoy here.

Wrapping It Up

Delaware’s beach towns offer a foodie experience that’s as diverse as it is delicious. From fresh seafood to vegan delights, there’s something for everyone. Ashland’s Rainy Season: A Perfect Backdrop for Coffee Adventures

Let’s face it, Ashland’s coffee culture is a year-round staple. Whether it’s the dry heat of summer or the refreshing crispness of fall, locals and visitors flock to cozy cafés for their daily brew. When the first autumn rain hits, it feels like the town shifts into a slower, cozier rhythm, but let’s be real—coffee is a way of life in Ashland, no matter the season. Locals and visitors seek the perfect cozy café to escape the drizzle and warm up with a steaming mug of coffee. And if you’re anything like me, that first fall shower just hits differently—especially with a latte in hand.

So, let’s jump into my top coffee spots that are sure to warm you up from the inside out during Ashland’s cool, rainy days.

Coffee Culture in Ashland: More Than Just a Caffeine Fix

Ashland’s coffee scene is more than just a place to grab a quick caffeine fix—it’s a way of life. Here, locals and visitors stroll the streets with their reusable mugs, often with a furry companion in tow. (Yes, this town is dog-friendly!) Whether you’re here for the theater, the college, or just passing through on your road trip, Ashland has a coffee shop for you.

Sure, we’ve got chains like Starbucks, Dutch Bros., and Human Bean (which is kind of like the West Coast’s version of Dunkin’), but the true magic happens in our local gems. Let’s dig in!

  1. Rogue Valley Roasting Company: Where Everybody Knows Your Name

First stop on this caffeine-fueled journey: Rogue Valley Roasting Company. Tucked in a friendly neighborhood, this place has “homey” written all over it. The baristas know their regulars by name, and you’ll often see neighbors catching up like it’s a scene straight out of Cheers. This is my hand-out spot for a cup of joe.

Warming up by the fire with a local roast at Rogue Valley Roasting Company.

What I love most about Rogue Valley is its versatility. On a chilly, misty day, you can cozy up by the outdoor fire pit, and on sunnier afternoons, their patio is perfect for soaking in those last rays of fall sun. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and community.

  1. Case Coffee Roasters: The Hub for Coffee and People-Watching

Next up is Case Coffee Roasters, a local favorite with two locations. The downtown spot is a peaceful nook, while their Siskiyou Boulevard location (right across from SOU) is bustling with students, faculty, and people from all walks of life.

Perfect spot for people-watching at Case Coffee Roasters—coffee and a view!

I love people-watching here. Their coffee? Outstanding. Their vibe? Warm, welcoming, and very much a reflection of Ashland itself. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the first few fall leaves hitting the ground at Southern Oregon Univesity as you sip on their smooth espresso. One of their locations is across the street from the university.

  1. Noble Coffee Roasting: A Lively Gathering Spot

For those who thrive in lively environments, Noble Coffee Roasting is your go-to spot. Nestled in the Railroad District, Noble is where you’ll find digital nomads typing away, locals gathering for meetings, and travelers soaking in the vibrant energy.

Noble Coffee Roasting: Where great coffee and lively conversation go hand in hand.

The mornings here start with a bang, and by 9:30 a.m., it’s buzzing with activity. It might be louder than Rogue or Case, but that just adds to the charm. Plus, the coffee? Worth the noise.

  1. Mix Bakeshop: Coffee and Pastries by the Park

Looking for a peaceful retreat? Mix Bakeshop, located near Lithia Park, offers just that. This spot is a gem if you’re craving a sweet treat to go with your coffee. Their pastries are to die for—trust me, you’ll want to grab a couple for later.

Order up! Grab a coffee and pastry, then settle in for some cozy vibes at Mix Bakeshop.

If you’ve got kids in tow, their sister location, Re-Mix, is also a fantastic stop. Coffee, pastries, and ice cream? Yes, please!

  1. Hidden Gem: Southern Grounds at SOU

Now for a hidden ge, you won’t want to miss: Southern Grounds, tucked away in the Hannon Library on Southern Oregon University’s campus. This student-run café is the perfect escape from the rain when you’re looking for a quiet spot to sip on some coffee and get lost in a book (or your laptop).

Closed for now, but worth the wait! Southern Grounds is the perfect hidden gem to fuel up when school’s in session.

It’s not the easiest spot to find, but that’s part of the charm. Just remember, it’s closed during summer, weekends and academic breaks, so plan your visit accordingly.

Conclusion: Where to Next?

There you have it—Ashland’s coziest coffee spots, perfect for rainy days and chilly fall mornings. Whether you’re in the mood for people-watching, enjoying a quiet corner with your favorite book, or simply grabbing a quick coffee before a stroll through Lithia Park, Ashland’s coffee scene has something for everyone.

A Culinary Adventure Around the Globe

Ever thought about exploring the world, not with a map, but with a fork? Well, buckle up (or should I say, “tuck your napkin in”), because we’re about to dive into the delicious and exciting world of culinary travel. Food isn’t just something we eat to survive—it’s a way to travel without even leaving the table, a story of a place told through its spices, techniques, and traditions. So, whether you’re already on the road or planning your next big getaway, get ready for a feast that’ll satisfy your wanderlust and your taste buds.

The Delicious Bond Between Food and Travel

Food and travel go hand in hand, like peanut butter and jelly—or maybe in this case, like sushi and soy sauce. Wherever you go, food tells the story of the place, its people, and its culture. Take Marrakech, for example. You don’t just stroll through the market; you experience it. The spices, the colors, the sizzling street food—it’s a whole sensory overload. Or Kyoto, where sipping a delicate green tea in a centuries-old tea house feels like stepping back in time.

The magic of travel comes alive when you can literally taste history and tradition. Spicy curries in India? That’s centuries of spice trade in a single bite. Sushi in Japan? It’s an ode to precision, tradition, and a love of the freshest ingredients. Every dish tells a story, and that story is as rich as the flavors you’re savoring.

Where every corner of Marrakech serves up a new adventure—for your taste buds too!

Sharing Meals: A Universal Language of Connection

Whether you’re sitting at a long communal table or grabbing street food from a corner stall, there’s something magical about the way meals connect people. I’ll never forget my experience in Valencia, Spain, where I sat down to a mouth-watering plate of paella at Casa Patacona—a fantastic spot right on the beach known for offering a delicious vegan paella. Located at Passeig Marítim de la Patacona, 14, 46120 Alboraia, Valencia, Spain, this cozy restaurant gave me the perfect seat to savor the iconic dish.

The scent of saffron and fresh vegetables filled the air as the server placed the sizzling pan in front of me. Even without seafood, each bite was like a warm invitation into Spanish culture. The crispy rice at the bottom (called socarrat) and the perfectly cooked vegetables weren’t just delicious—they were a love letter to Valencia’s culinary traditions.

Food can open doors to a deeper understanding of a place. Even in a busy restaurant, surrounded by fellow travelers and locals alike, sharing that meal made me feel like I was part of something bigger. It’s those kinds of experiences that make travel not just about seeing new places, but about tasting new stories too.

Top Destinations Every Foodie Should Visit

So, where to start on this epic culinary journey? Grab your fork and follow me to some of the best foodie destinations across the globe!

Bangkok, Thailand: A Street Food Wonderland

If your love language is street food, Bangkok is your soulmate. The street eats stalls here offer everything from spicy pad Thai to coconut milk-infused curries that will leave you craving more. Street vendors near Khao San Road? Don’t even think about skipping it. Trust me, one bite of mango sticky rice and you’ll be asking, “How soon can I come back?”

Street food heaven, with flavors that pack a punch—Bangkok doesn’t hold back.

Barcelona, Spain: Tapas and Tradition

Barcelona is a foodie dream. Between mouthfuls of crispy patatas bravas and succulent jamón ibérico, you’ll wonder if every day in Spain should be a feast. And it basically is! Head to La Boqueria Market, grab some fresh seafood, and nibble your way through the city, one tapa at a time.

Tapas for days, and I’m not complaining. La Boqueria has something for every craving.

Mexico City: A Vegetarian Foodie’s Paradise

Mexico City may be famous for its tacos al pastor, but don’t worry, there’s plenty to satisfy a meat-free appetite! This vibrant city is a vegetarian and vegan food lover’s dream. From sizzling street food to fine dining, the variety of plant-based dishes is astonishing.

Start your journey at Por Siempre Vegana Taquería, a beloved local spot that serves mouth-watering vegan tacos. Whether you’re craving tacos de setas (mushroom tacos) or the spicy, savory flavor of nopales (cactus), you’ll find plenty of options that pack all the flavor without the meat.

If you’re looking for something sweet, don’t miss Churrería El Moro for some crispy, golden churros dipped in rich chocolate. It’s the perfect pick-me-up after a day of exploring the bustling streets of Mexico City.

For something more refined, head to Los Loosers, a renowned vegan restaurant offering creative plant-based spins on traditional Mexican cuisine. Their innovative dishes will leave you wondering how something so delicious can be so good for you!

Mexico City’s food scene is a treasure trove of vegetarian delights. From market stalls bursting with fresh produce to innovative eateries redefining Mexican cuisine, this city shows that you don’t need meat to enjoy a true culinary adventure.

Vegan tacos packed with flavor—proof you don’t need meat for authentic Mexican taste.

New Orleans, USA: Creole & Cajun Delights

You haven’t truly lived until you’ve had gumbo in New Orleans. This city is bursting with flavor and hospitality. Every bite of beignets, jambalaya, or étouffée feels like a celebration of Southern culture. If you’re lucky enough to visit during the New Orleans Food and Wine Experience, you’re in for a treat!

Powdered sugar perfection! These crispy, fluffy beignets are a must for a sweet tooth like me.

Why Food Travel is the Best Way to Explore

Eating your way through a new city isn’t just fun—it’s educational. You learn about the culture, history, and people in the most delicious way possible. And the best part? You can bring that knowledge (and recipes) home. I still remember the first time I made Italian gelato after visiting Rome. Sure, it didn’t quite match the experience of eating it on a sun-drenched piazza, but it was a sweet reminder of my travels.

So, next time you’re planning a trip, don’t just think about the sights—think about the bites! Whether it’s savoring street food in Bangkok or enjoying tapas in Barcelona, the world is your buffet. Get ready to eat, explore, and eat some more!

When in Rome…eat ALL the gelato. No regrets!

Time to Start Your Own Culinary Journey

Cuisine is the ultimate exploration. So, pack your bags, grab your passport, and don’t forget your appetite! Whether you’re exploring the vibrant street food scene in Bangkok or the traditional tapas in Barcelona, the world is waiting for you—one dish at a time.
