December 2025 Adventures: Cozy Escapes, Smart Travel & Southern Flavor

Golden Trails & Northern Tales: September Adventures in Redding + Yreka, California

If August was about grounding and growth, September turned up the sunshine — and the appetite. This month’s travels took me deep into Northern California, where Redding’s river trails, mountain views, and café culture met Yreka’s small-town charm, gold rush history, and seriously good eats.

I started in Redding, a place that surprised me with how much there is to do (and taste!). From waterfalls and river walks to cozy brunch spots and perfectly brewed cappuccinos, it’s a city that knows how to blend adventure with comfort. My guides — Things to Do in Redding, Foodie Guide to Redding, and Best Coffee Shops in Redding — are packed with bite-sized discoveries and caffeine-fueled recommendations for every kind of traveler.

Then came Yreka, where the pace slows down but the stories run deep. Between exploring gold rush landmarks and local museums, I found my kind of adventure: Veg-Friendly Eats & Scenic Escapes, Savoring Yreka: The Best Vegetarian-Friendly Eats in Siskiyou County, and Discover Yreka’s Hidden History. And for my fellow solo wanderers, Solo Female Travel in Yreka: 10 Must-Do Activities and A Weekend in Yreka prove that small towns can hold big adventures — especially when you’re exploring on your own terms.

September’s theme? Slowing down, savoring more, and saying yes to simple pleasures — like sipping local coffee on a sunny bench or finding joy in a perfectly grilled veggie wrap. Because sometimes, the best kind of travel isn’t about going far — it’s about seeing familiar places with fresh curiosity (and a good snack in hand).

Here’s to golden light, hidden gems, and the delicious kind of adventure that feeds both heart and stomach.

Hi, I’m Beth—the creator behind Bite-Sized Adventures, a food and travel blog based in Oregon. Growing up as a pescatarian in a family of meat lovers, I learned early how to get creative at the dinner table (and yes, the family dog was always very well fed). That curiosity around food eventually grew into a love for discovering new places, trying local flavors, and capturing it all through travel photography. Today, I share food and travel experiences, destination inspiration, and real-world travel stories designed to help you explore the world one bite and one adventure at a time. Join me as we explore new destinations, local eats, and meaningful travel moments—one snapshot at a time.
